James McCann – COO

James joined Movement to Work in February 2022 as the Chief Operating Officer on secondment from Accenture where he worked within Accenture’s Strategy & Consulting UK FS Banking Practice.

James has spent most of his career supporting large UK retail banks transform. He most recently was the Head of Change for a major UK bank where he mobilised and led a large-scale change capability, delivering strategic programmes (with budgets in excess of £100m+) across multiple technology engineering rooms and business lines. His experience is in big delivery, technology and data transformation, agile delivery at scale, de-mergers – TSA exit programmes, M&A – technology integration programmes, end-to-end digitisation, and operations automation. In January 2021 James co-created and mobilised a FinTech Incubator within a UK Challenger Bank to support their business further maximise value realisation from the FinTech market. Prior to Accenture, James scaled and exited a food business whilst studying for his undergrad at Business School. 

James has played a leading role in the strategy and delivery of Accenture’s Corporate Social Responsibility Agenda in Scotland since 2019. During this time his team have led on the expansion of Accenture Scotland’s Corporate Citizenship Partner Network, driven up internal volunteering opportunities (and uptake) for Accenture staff, raised significant funds for charity partners, oversaw the rollout of Movement To Work programmes, and supported the delivery of bespoke pro-bono projects to support our Corporate Citizenship partners.

James has seen first-hand the benefits that levelling the playing field can bring for both businesses and young people alike. He’s committed to creating opportunities for all and removing barriers to employment – regardless of background – so that everyone can thrive in the world of work. 

In his spare time, James is an adventurous cook, enjoys hillwalking and likes exploring new countries!
