Bupa loves your future is a 5 weeks work experience programme, intended to support young people aged 18-30 years old, who are facing difficulty getting into work. The programme is designed to help you to develop your confidence and learn new and valuable skills, and give you real, on-the-job experience of working in a Bupa care home.
Experience isn’t necessary, as you’ll receive training to help you succeed during your placement, but if you’ve got the belief, the drive and the talent to help us in our ambition, to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives, then we want to hear from you.
What does a typical placement look like?
During your first 3 weeks you will be with our training delivery partner, focusing on work skills, preparation for work, personal and social skills as well as preparing you for a role in a customer-facing environment. Your training will be conducted in a classroom, with a group of up to 12 other young people.
During the following 2 weeks, you will complete a work placement in one of our care homes, where you will have a chance to develop your skills in a care home setting. We have over 130 care homes situated across the UK, so you’ll have an opportunity to select one as close to where you live as possible.
You’ll start off by completing 4 days classroom-based training, which will prepare you for working in health and social care. You’ll then go on to complete your work experience in a Bupa care home, where you’ll spend time working across the different functions within a care home, such as Activities, Care, Catering, Hospitality, Laundry & Housekeeping teams. There may also be an opportunity to work within Maintenance and Reception/Administration.
What you should wear:
- For your classroom training, smart casual dress is fine
- During your work experience, you will be given a uniform to wear over your own clothes
Skills you will gain:
- Customer service skills
- Personal confidence and self-awareness
- Interview preparation, CV writing skills and preparation for work
- Teamwork and communication
- Introduction to health & social care
What have previous participants of this programme said about their placement?
“I really enjoyed the classroom training, the learning was very on focus, but equally enjoyable, and gave me the skills and confidence needed to complete my placement. It was also great to socialise with the rest of the group. Up until this point I had spent most of my time preparing and applying for jobs and I had missed out on an element of social interaction with others in the same situation as myself.”
“Thanks to doing this programme, I now have my dream job, and if it wasn’t for this, I wouldn’t have been able to move into my own home and start a new life for myself.”
Complete this placement and then…
We hope that you are able to progress to role in a Bupa care home, where you can go on to complete an apprenticeship or other training /development and progress your career in health & social care.
